Percentages, fractions and decimals



  • Decimals are another way of writing fractions.
  • Percentages are another way of writing hundredths.


Because decimals are part of the base-ten place value system, the clearest connections between decimals and fractions occur where the denominator of a fraction is a power of ten:
1/10 = 0.1


3/100 = 0.03

6/1000 = 0.006
